Beauty

Beauty hides its face from me
In this darkest of dark nights
Where I wander
Cut and bleeding and always needing
That something less or
Something more
Always seeking kindness
Carrying this dimming torch
It’s not here, not now, not ever
That joy waits
Walking on promises that shred
Like broken glass
I need you
You hide Beauty’s face from me
Behind a cloak of denial
One days and some days and maybes
these empty promises I watch
While they fade
While you fade, we fade, away
But not without a fight
When the sun rises
I will lift up my face, open my
Heart, and I’ll find
Beauty.
