Passing

In this quiet mind
This empty heart
In this soul of mine
Vast and dark
Rests a memory
Of a place
Where happiness
Was in his face
Where peace was found
Inside his arms
And we promised nothing
Could break us apart
But words softly fade
Promises crumble
And as hard as love falls
So harder falls trouble
No heart can withstand
What time puts upon it
Not even love
has the power to own it
But now it is quiet
Since you are gone
And the emptiness carries
A peace of its own
I no longer worry
Or expect anything
I simply sit silent
And watch our passing.
